Principal Investigator: Sh. Jagdish Singh
Duration: 2004-2007
Funding Agency: DBT

Objectives:
• To develop suitable model for intercropping of medicinal viz. Aconitum heterophyllum (Atish), Valeriana jatamansi (Muskbala), Picrorhiza kurrooa (Kutki), Polygonetum verticillatum (Salam misri) and Angelica glauca (Chora) with horticultural crops.
• To determine the change in level of active principles of medicinal plants under studied models vis-à-vis. natural habitat.
• To investigate the tree crop interaction, soil fertility status etc. in intercropping model.
Outcome:
Developed suitable intercropping model for commercially important medicinal plants viz. Aconitum heterophyllum (Atish), Valeriana jatamansi (Muskbala), Picrorhiza kurroa (Kutki), Polygonetum verticillatum (Salam misri) and Angelica glauca (Chora) with horticultural plantations in high hill temperate region of Himachal Pradesh. Economics of the each model has been worked out for the benefit of different stakeholders.
