Achievement:
After diagnostic survey of existing agroforestry systems in high and mid hill region of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh it has been observed that there are five major agroforesty systems viz. AS (Agrisilviculture), HA (Hortiagriculture), HAS (Hortiagrisilviculture), PS (Pastotal-silviculture) and HP (Hortipastoral) were prevalent in the study area. Hortiagriculture system was found to be predominant in the region. Hortiagrisilviculture system has been observed to produce the maximum biological yield followed by Hortiagriculture, Hortipastoral, Agrisilviculture and Pastoralsilviculture. As far as economic return is concerned Hortiagrisilviculture system has been observed to contribute maximum return followed by Hortiagriculture, Hortipastoral, Agrisilviculture and Pastoralsilviculture in both high and mid hill temperate region of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. Technological gaps identifying the socio-economic, technical and infrastructural constraints have revealed the inherent weaknesses of the existing agroforestry system types both in high and mid hill region. After analyzing the various constraints and biotechnological conditions, appropriate agroforestry solutions have been suggested for both the region.
